Videos are an important element of any serious information marketers product arsenal. People learn using
different modalities of learning. Some people like to watch, thus you need videos. Others want to listen so you produce audios for them. Still others like to read, so you need books and ebooks for those folks. But, let's get back to doing a great video.
In order to make sure your video is as good as it can possibly be, ask yourself this question first: "Does my subject matter make video MANDATORY?" If the answer to that question is YES, then video is what you should be using.
If the answer is NO, then stick with one of the other modalities.
When doing video, the work you do BEFORE shooting the material is crucially important. Knowing exactly what you're going to shoot and HOW you're going to shoot it is critical to your success. In the video production business, it's good to have a list of shots that you want for every video that you do.
This will help you to NOT have to work and PAY for more time with the various video professionals you might use. Work done in advance of your actual video shoot will pay big dividends. You'll get what you want and you'll get it done on time.
One of the things you can do to get the most out of your video is to have a production assistant take notes while you are shooting. The best example is if you have a video that is going to be 25 scenes long, and let's assume you do 4 takes for each scene.
When you're done, you'll have 100 UNITS of information. While shooting you'll want to ask the director to tell your assistant which of the 4 takes was the best. The PA will then mark this on the sheet. When you get into the edit room, you'll be able to immediately toss out 75 of the scenes. That's because you decided which take was best ON THE SPOT.
All of the above ideas will save you countless hours and plenty of money. Please do them. I didn't in the beginning and it cost me . . . BIG TIME!
